The soft shell technology makes for the perfect combination of warmth, wind resistance and water resistance without the bulk of other similar jackets. I often wear it as a stand alone piece on cool windy days but when the weather turns for the worst, I slip on a G3 shell to keep the rain or snow off. The smooth outer texture of the soft shell slips easily inside of other layers and feels very comfortable underneath a shell.
